Solidarity House Shares

The Solidarity Projects House Shares allow young people below 30 (students, young professionals or Civic Service participants) to live in an affordable shared home in the heart of working-class neighborhoods. With their housemates, they commit to lead collective projects designed to bring them together with the inhabitants, strengthen social cohesion and support local dynamics. The actions developed by solidarity housemates in their neighborhood also include mentoring children and youth in difficulty.

The housemates are recruited, trained and supported for the duration of their commitment by Afev’s permanent staff. This support aims at making their integration in their neighborhood easier and at helping them in the construction of their community projects.

These unusual house shares allow young people to experience housing differently by engaging daily in the enhancement of social cohesion and the fight against inequalities. 

By offering affordable housing, Kaps solidarity house shares allow young people to become autonomous and live closer to their activities (study, work, leisure…).
Solidarity house shares help the fight against student isolation by favoring the insertion of students and young professionals in cities through “supported” house shares.

The participants (called Kapsers) are completely immersed in their neighborhood, where they are both volunteers and inhabitants. This double status helps them better integrate locally and strengthens the impact of their action.

• The apartments feature 3 to 6 rooms and collective spaces designed to facilitate interactions ;
• The one year bail is affordable and extendable ;
• Half of the apartments are furnished and equipped.
   

Dans la perspective d'implantation des colocations Kaps, nous proposons d’accompagner nos partenaires (bailleurs, collectivités locales, promoteurs, aménageurs, etc.) dans le cadre d'études préalables. Celles-ci peuvent se décliner, au regard de la nature et l'importance des projets, à travers 3 types d'interventions :

• Diagnostic d'opportunité
• Etude de préfiguration;
• Assistance à Maîtrise d'Usage;

Ces études visent à formaliser des préconisations afin de réunir les conditions optimum pour la réussite du projet.
Mise en perspective par rapport au contexte social-urbain, enquêtes quantitatives et captation de paroles qualitatives sont des dimensions qui peuvent être traitées.
